This restaurant is famous for the chickens that are cook inside the urn. Urn Chicken (甕仔雞), is a must try dish in CingJing, Nantou. Our tour guide bring us to this restaurant where there are 5 huge urns at its entrance.
These are the chickens that are ready to be roast.
The entire mountain chicken is placed inside the urn and roasted slowly with firewood from below
The legendary Urn Chicken (甕仔雞) was served with a pair of cotton gloves, accompanying salt and dip sauce
We were supposed to tear the chicken apart with our hands after wearing the cotton gloves. But our tour guide is generous enough to help us with the chicken.
The skin of the urn chicken is crispy, while the meat are soft and tender. The menu have a lot of sets to choose from. You just have to choose which other dish that suites you. The dish came out quite fast and we have our satisfying meal.
